About
Family Place is a not-for-profit community based organization offering a comprehensive range of programs and services for families with children from conception to age twelve. We offer weekly play groups, Reggio Inspired preschool program (#L4466), parenting workshops and sessions, prenatal and postnatal programs, breastfeeding support, breast pump loan, resource library, a clothing exchange, newborn literacy bags (Books for Babies), and so much more!
Volunteers
Family Place is home to many wonderful volunteers! In addition to our volunteers we are also proud to open our doors to college and university students looking to complete their on-the-job placements. If you are interested in volunteering or doing a placement at Family Place please contact us and we will send you an information package.
Mission Statement

Be culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate and readily accessible to the children and families which we serve.
-
Demonstrate strong community support and a coordinated and collaborated approach to the delivery of services for families.
-
Meet identified community needs and not duplicate them.
-
Include a strong evaluation component to ensure accountability and excellence.

Parent Advisory Committee
We are looking for parents to sit on our Parent Advisory Committee. The committee offers an informal and fun way to come together and let us know how we are doing and what things you would like to see offered in the future. We provide onsite childcare during the daytime meetings. If you think you might want to be part of this group drop us a line (see contact us tab).
Guiding Principles
Flexibility: Programs will be flexible in recognizing the differences in communities and the changing needs and circumstances of children and families in those communities.
Community-based: Families and community groups have a key role in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of programs.
Partnerships: It takes a whole community to raise a child. Holistic care and support for children and their families are achieved through the combined efforts of parents, families, communities, government and service providers.
Board of Directors
An eight to twelve member volunteer Board of Directors, with the support of ongoing training, oversees the global direction of the organization. The board ensures that Family Place's work plan reflects the goals and objectives and is on target, and conversely, that the goals and objectives reflect identified needs, are user driven and are responsive to existing service gaps. If you are interested in becoming a board member or sitting on a working committee please contact us for an information package.
